Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility to Participate in JAE

For 2012 Joint Admissions Exercise, the following candidates are eligible to participate except those who have been successfully admitted to a JC/Poly through the Direct School Admission-JC (DSA-JC) or Direct Poly Admission (DPA).

All candidates who have been successfully admitted to a school through the Direct School Admission-JC (DSA-JC) or Direct Poly Admission (DPA) cannot participate in JAE. They will be informed of the school they have been admitted to under the DSA-JC/DPA together with the release of the GCE ‘O’ Level Examination results.

Candidates who are current JC, MI or Poly students or who were previously admitted to a JC, MI or Poly will not be eligible for the institution in the same category through JAE (e.g. if you are currently studying in a JC or you have studied in a JC before, you will not be eligible for JC in JAE).

Candidates who are current Higher Nitec students or who left their ITE courses due to disciplinary reasons within the past 2 years should approach ITE directly instead of participating in JAE if they wish to seek re-admission to ITE. Any JAE posting of these students to ITE could be invalidated by ITE.

Eligibility for Admission to JC/MI/Poly/ITE

To be eligible for admission to JC, MI, Poly or ITE courses, candidates must first meet the admission criteria for the respective institutions and the minimum entry requirements of that course. For details, please refer to Section 4 of the JAE Information Booklet (48kb .pdf)

The eligibility to JC/MI/Poly/ITE courses for 2012 Joint Admissions Exercise is generally based on examination results achieved at:

  1. 2011 Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level Examination or
  2. a combination of one past year and 2011 Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level Examination
