Relief Allied Educator (READ) Scheme
The Relief Allied Educator (READ) Scheme allows schools to engage relief allied educator in teaching and learning on a short-term basis to meet their temporary manpower shortfall. It also provides an avenue for aspiring Allied Educator (Teaching & Learning) applicants to have a first-hand experience on the job.
A READ will support teachers in classroom management and provide support in teaching and learning within and outside classroom.
Eligibility
To register for the Relief Allied Educator (READ) Scheme, you must be a Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident and meet one of the following criteria:
- Possess a diploma from a local polytechnic, NAFA or LaSalle College of Arts; or
- Possess an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or NUS High School Diploma; or
- Possess at least 2 GCE ‘A’ Level and 2 GCE ‘AO’ Level passes (including General Paper); or
- Possess 5 GCE ‘O’ level passes (including English and Mathematics) with L1B4 of ≤ 26 points
Selected registered READ candidates may be engaged under the Scheme for Relief Educator (SRE) if the school finds them suitable to teach a specialised subject or subject area of need such as Art, Music, Humanities and etc.

Application
Please submit your application for registration on the Relief Allied Educator (READ) Scheme through the Relief Employment Management System (REMS) portal. You will require a valid email account for creation of a user account to access the system.
Once your application has been approved, you will receive a letter of registration and you will be listed in the registered candidate database. Please note that you have to be actively engaged in assignment (i.e. not without assignment for more than one year) if you would like to remain registered on the scheme.
Schools will contact you directly if they require your services or you may call the schools to enquire about vacancies.
Please bring along all your original educational certificates, transcripts and necessary identification document to your first employing school for the purpose of verification. Schools will not be allowed to employ you if your particulars are not verified.
